Creating a Test Plan - CE WiFi 6G

The CE WiFi 6G option is used for EU CE (RED) certification testing of 6 GHz RLAN products (Wi-Fi 6E / Wi-Fi 7, etc.), based on Draft ETSI EN 303 687. This standard includes the Adaptivity (Channel Access Mechanism) test and must be used with a Switch Box (control box).

Basic Settings

The figure below takes Wi-Fi 6E as an example.

CE_WiFi6G_overview

  • Title: Test plan name, entered by the user.

  • Type: Technical category. Select the corresponding Wi-Fi standard, or Proprietary for self-defined products:

    • Wi-Fi: All 802.11 modes (a / n / ac / ax / be).

    • Wi-Fi 6E: 802.11a / n / ac / ax.

    • Wi-Fi 7: 802.11be.

    • Proprietary: Self-defined product.

  • Num of Chains: Number of transmit chains (antennas).

  • Mode: Modes supported by the product (required). After checking a mode, select the Bandwidth (20 / 40 / 80 / 160 MHz...) and TX Type (SISO / MIMO).

  • RU Config: RU (Resource Unit) configurations supported by 802.11ax / be devices, selected per bandwidth. Full RU of each bandwidth is mandatory; SU (Single User) can be checked separately.

  • Eut Category: 6 GHz equipment category:

    • LPI AP/Bridge: Low Power Indoor access point / bridge.

    • LPI Client: Low Power Indoor client.

    • VLP Normal: Very Low Power normal device.

    • VLP Narrowband: Very Low Power narrowband device.

  • Carrier Wave: Whether the product supports carrier wave transmission. For the frequency error test.

  • Frame Type: Channel access frame type: FBE (Frame Based Equipment) / LBE (Load Based Equipment).

  • CAM Option: Evaluation of the Channel Access Mechanism: Test (measured) / Declaration (declared).

  • Priority Class: Channel access priority class (1 ~ 4), default 2.

  • Initiating Type: Device role: Initiating (EUT is AP, companion is station) / Responding (EUT is station, companion is AP).

  • Supervise Type: Supervision role: Supervising / Supervised.

  • Test Process: Test process: Full Test / Per Section 5.3.2 (per section 5.3.2 of the standard).

  • Antenna Gain: Antenna gain and cable loss configuration:

    • Title / Gain: Antenna number and gain (dBi).

    • Cable Loss: Cable loss from the product's antenna port to the Switch Box or spectrum analyzer. How to Create Common Cable Loss.

    • Switch Box Port: Port number of the switch connected to the antenna.

    • Item: Test items per antenna; the numbers correspond to:

      • (C6000) Duty Cycle

      • (C6001) Carrier Frequencies

      • (C6002) Occupied Channel Bandwidth

      • (C6003) RF Output Power

      • (C6004) Power Density

      • (C6005) Transmitter Unwanted Emissions Outside The 6 GHz RLAN Bands

      • (C6006) Transmitter Unwanted Emissions Within The 6 GHz RLAN Bands

      • (C6007) Receiver Spurious Emissions

      • (C6008) Adaptivity (Channel Access Mechanism)

      • (C6009) Receiver Blocking

      • (C6010) Receiver Selectivity

      • (C6011) Transmitter unwanted emissions in the out-of-band domain

      • (C6012) VLP NB frequency hopping mechanism

Advanced Setting and Special Eut

CE_WiFi6G_advanced

The following settings can generally be kept at their default values. Adjust them only when the test results are abnormal or there are special test requirements.

  • Switch Box: Whether to use a Switch Box, default Yes. This standard must be used with a control box.

  • External Filter: Whether an external filter is used in the RF path. For the antenna port RSE test.

  • Env: Environmental conditions, multi-select: NTNV / LTNV / HTNV.

  • ADA Delay: Delay (ms) for the Adaptivity test, default 0.

  • VSG ALC State: Power ALC state of the vector signal generator (ON / OFF). For the Adaptivity test.

  • Only Full RU: For the checked items, only Full RU will be tested.

  • Channel Config: Channel configuration, Default or Custom.

  • Hide Image Elements: Elements to hide in report images (e.g., the Ant marker).

  • RU POS Show: How RU positions are displayed in the report: POS / POS Number / POS And POS Number.

  • RU Priority: RU test priority: Full RU First or Sequence (RU26 → RU52 → RU106...).

  • Special Setting: Special settings. Options prefixed with [D] are debug options:

    • [D] Virtual Data / [D] Random Data / [D] Ignore Eut Confirm / [D] Random Status: Debug options.

    • DC One Mode: A mode only measures one duty cycle.

    • Single Ant Data of MIMO: Show each antenna's data of MIMO for EIRP and PSD (CE 2.4G/5G/6G).

  • Min Power: Minimum power (dBm), 0 is auto.

  • Min Idle: Minimum idle time (ms). For C6003.

  • Blocking Mode: Receiver blocking test mode: Default / All.

  • 100% Duty Cycle: Whether the sample's duty cycle is 100%: Unknown / Yes / No.
